Start with the problem and the location

When you contact OB Garage Door & Gate, include the city or ZIP code and whether the property has a garage door, sliding gate, swing gate or pedestrian entry. Describe what changed: does it stop halfway, make a new noise, move unevenly, or fail to respond to a particular remote? You do not need to diagnose the faulty component before calling.

Tell us whether the entrance is stuck open or closed, whether a vehicle is trapped, and whether there is another usable entrance. Those details help us understand your access needs. Call to check availability; submitting a form does not confirm an appointment.

Take a few useful photos from a safe position

A wide view of the opening provides context that a close-up alone cannot. If it is safe, include a photo of the visible problem and an externally readable brand or model label. Do not move an unstable door, climb near moving equipment, remove covers or open an operator cabinet to obtain a photograph.

  • Full door or gate and the surrounding opening
  • Visible damage, photographed without touching the mechanism
  • Operator or opener label, only if safely accessible
  • For a new installation, the opening and available space beside it

Keep private access details out of the first message

Do not photograph keypad codes, resident lists, account passwords or private documents. Tell us if an HOA, property manager or tenant needs to coordinate the appointment. Access instructions can be arranged directly when the visit is scheduled.

For a new door or gate, describe how you use the entrance

Include approximate dimensions if you already have them, the style you prefer and whether you want automation. Tell us if the opening is shared, used by delivery vehicles or part of a larger fence project. Photos can start the conversation, but fabrication measurements and site conditions need to be checked before the final scope is confirmed.

Understand what a remote estimate can tell you

Photos and symptoms help define the initial request. They do not establish the condition of hidden components, power supply or the entire moving system. An on-site assessment may be needed before confirming the repair and price. Ask what the proposed work includes, which items remain uncertain and whether additional work would need separate approval.

For competing proposals, compare the same scope: parts or equipment, removal, installation, finish, access controls and exclusions. A lower total is only meaningful when the work being compared is equivalent.
