Plan the entrance before selecting the design
- Sliding, single-swing, double-swing or pedestrian access
- Clearance for vehicles, pedestrians and gate travel
- Privacy, visibility, material and finish preferences
- Existing posts, support conditions and available power
- Remotes, keypads, intercoms and visitor access requirements
Keep a clear route for pedestrians and discuss gate travel and safety-device placement during planning. Do not treat a vehicle gate as a substitute for a dedicated pedestrian entrance or bypass safety devices to accommodate a design.
What to expect from a service visit
We review the opening, surrounding space and expected use before discussing a gate layout. A sliding gate needs space alongside the opening; a swing gate needs a clear travel area. Automation adds operator, power, control and safety-device requirements that need to be considered with the physical gate. The estimate should identify the fabrication and installation scope, equipment, finish and any site preparation that is included or separate.
Before you call
Send wide photos of the driveway from both sides, your ZIP code and a few examples of styles you like. Tell us whether the entrance serves one home, multiple residents or a commercial property. Describe how visitors enter today, without sharing keypad codes. Existing structures and site conditions need an on-site assessment before the layout is confirmed.
We serve Valley Village, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood and other communities across the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. Check our mobile service area and contact us to confirm scheduling for your address.
Common questions
Should I choose a sliding or swing gate?
The available space, driveway layout, slope and everyday traffic guide that choice. We assess those constraints before recommending a layout. Our sliding-versus-swing guide explains the questions to discuss at the site visit.
Can a gate and fence have a coordinated design?
Yes. We can discuss matching materials, slat spacing, finishes and pedestrian entries as part of a coordinated gate-and-fence project.
Can an existing gate be automated?
It may be possible, but the gate's condition, movement, support, clearances and available power must be assessed first. An operator does not correct a gate that is difficult or unsafe to move.
